A hydrogen ecosystem in the DMV will create jobs, improve air quality, and power the region with clean energy.
About the Greenprint
The DMV Hydrogen Greenprint is a better kind of “blueprint.” In addition to a conceptual plan for deploying infrastructure, it provides a data-driven analysis that quantifies potential hydrogen supply and demand across the DMV over the next ten years. As a foundational view of the hydrogen market and ecosystem, the Greenprint assesses scenarios for hydrogen growth based on the addressable market for the largest sectors in the region and describes the corresponding marketplace potential. This Greenprint Overview provides the conclusions from that analysis.

Together, we can build a cleaner future for Greater Washington.
The National Capital Hydrogen Center (“The Center”) is accelerating the creation of a hydrogen eco-system in Greater Washington and fostering collaboration across organizations in support of the national imperative to add hydrogen solutions to enable our country’s clean energy future. Greater Washington is the natural home for this center given its abundant resources, leading policy advocates, and forward-thinking government and commercial entities. This region has a culture of innovation and leadership that attracts attention, investment, and talent, along with a population that is determined to combat climate change and lead the energy transition.
ABOUT CONNECTED DMV
In a town full of think tanks, we’re a do tank.
There are a number of great organizations doing important work in Greater Washington. But what the DMV desperately needs is one entity with the vision, resources, scale, and deep sector experience and relationships to harness and bind the capabilities and reach of industry, academia, government, and the nonprofit sector to deliver innovative solutions to some of our region's most complex problems, together.
That's where Connected DMV comes in. We bring together the region's collective assets and brightest minds to deliver initiatives that have the power to fundamentally reshape our physical, digital, economic, and social infrastructure to help the most vulnerable among us. We do it so that Greater Washington can live up to its promise and be the greatest place to live and work in the nation for everyone—from Anacostia to Georgetown and Oxon Hill to Arlington—no excuses.
Connected DMV isn’t just a convener. And, we’re not just about big, new ideas. We bring people together to deliver real-world solutions for real regional impact.

To create a Greater Washington where everyone can thrive, we must accelerate the clean energy economy now.
It is imperative that the DMV region develop and adopt additional clean energy solutions to help meet climate change reduction goals and create a more prosperous and equitable future for all who live and work in the DMV. Europe and Asia are much further along than the United States in the development cycle for a hydrogen economy - we cannot afford to lose this race. In the regional clean energy ecosystem, hydrogen is our next great solution.
